So, The Cleveland Museum of Art had a new exhibition coming to town about the Tudors and Henry the VIII. And we thought, easy-peasy, with the explosion of Bridgerton and like shows highlighting jolly ol’ England. Not so. Research showed almost no American knowledge of the Tudor dynasty. Our solution? Focus on the salaciousness, bloodlust, and in-family fighting that defined them. No British stiff upper lip approach here–modern American vernacular all the way. The result? Attendance that was 20% above an aggressive goal set by CMA, and a couple of Addy awards for us.
